According to my best records (which are suspect at best), I moved to Barcelona on April 2, 2024. Not much more than a month later on May 4, 2024, I made a Facebook post in a local musicians group soliciting musicians to form a band. By the 6th of May, I’d already talked to the amazingly talented individuals who would form The Natchet Taylor Band. Easy as that.
A few WhatsApp messages were exchanged, some calendar crunching was crunched, and we all ended up in a room together playing some very cool tunes. It is just one of those stories of magic and synchronicity. The word “gratitude” comes to mind. Maybe even a few other words that will end up in some lyrics one day, but in any event, this forging of a band was a very powerful thing to experience — and redundantly, I am grateful. What started as a Facebook post turned into finding some kindred souls to play music with. It’s a very international affair with a British guitarist and two Catalans in the rhythm section. My Spanish is improving and I’ve learned quite a bit of musical terminology in both Spanish and Catalan… practices have been fun. We found a home in the neighborhood in Poblenou at a little rehearsal/recording studio spot called 85S Studios and have started to craft the sound.
This is us tracking a live take at our rehearsal space. Let me be the first to introduce to you Jules Bastrup on lead guitar, Alfons Foriscot on bass, and “Randy” Jordi Olle on the drums. What an incredible group of guys to play with.
I’d continue, saying something like, “Keep it tuned here! We have some amazing stuff planned!” But you already know that if you are reading this blog post. In the way of news, we are currently in pre-production of a record and are looking forward to sharing that with you, World. We are also currently looking to book some gigs and hope to do a little tour or two in the summer of 2025. Carl Sagan is reported to have said, “The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.” Perhaps, Carl, but even if She isn’t required, She often does it anyway.
See you on the road and in your headphones very soon.
